Walk with Me

2 May 2010

Ability First Australia and Northcott Disability Services will host our inaugural event 'Walk with Me'. The event will bring people of all abilities together to walk along a pre-determined route, having fun, doing something healthy and raising awareness and much needed funds as they go!

The dollars raised during this event will be channelled towards respite, in its many forms. For some youngsters living with disabilities respite takes the form of recreational activities. For others it’s a chance to stay at a specially run facility, a home away from home, where they have the chance to hang out with their peers, often with the same disability. It could be a youth group, run by our member organisation. The activity may be different but the outcome is the same, a chance to have fun for the individual living with disabilities, while their carers have an opportunity to have a break themselves from what can be a very demanding role.

Date: 2 May 2010

Venue: Starting from King's School North Parramatta
